Futsal Tips - coaching youth futsal

1. Short rosters: Teams have short roster to have more playing time. This is not the spirit of Futsal. In Futsal coaches should replace players often to get the most of their energy and coach them while they are out.
2. Excessive kicking: Futsal is not a kicking sport. It is a moving and getting close to the goal.
3. Bad transition from attack to defence and vice-versa: When your team has possession all players attack. Immediately when the ball is lost all players defend. If you have to tie your shoes ask the coach to sub you.
4.Dead zone players: Players that don’t move get in a dead zone. If a coach perceives a player in a dead zone the coach should replace the player immediately and talk to him. Either the player is tired or don’t understand the game.
5. Giving up: Do not look at the score board, a goal can be scored in 2 seconds in Futsal. If you think that your game is lost because you are loosing by 5 or 6 goals you are mistaken.
6. Not using the goalie as a 5th player when available: Use the goalie when you can. The goalie becomes the fifth player and gives an edge. If the opposing player goes after the goalie the goalie passes to the open player. If the goalie can’t pass he can kick to get rid of the ball after 4 seconds of possession.
7. Over committing on the last minute. When players see the clock on the last minute they get desperately on the attack. The odds are that they will get scored against. This tactics of over committing should be used only when the game or tournament is completely lost.
8. Marking: Futsal is dynamic and so is marking players.. A front player walking back slowly should be replaced immediately.
9. Goalie bouncing the ball to players. Goalie should roll the ball as close to the floor as possible because it is easier for the player receiving the ball to control.
10. mSlow ball reposition: The fastest the ball is played after a game stop the better is for your team.
11. Distracted players: Players should have the eye on the ball as close to 100% of the time as possible.
12. Controlling the ball with the side of the feet: in Futsal the ball is controlled with the bottom of the feet.
13.Players loosing focus: There is no time in Futsal for getting upset. Getting upset with a play or the referee may cost your team dearly. If you don’t have the focus the odds are that your team will suffer.
14. Physical games: Futsal is skills; it is not a physical game. Instead of play physical players need to focus on the game.
15.Playing Futsal just to enhance skills: To benefit from Futsal you have to understand the spirit of the game.
16.Lack of movement: When attacking, players should be moving constantly. Rotation is highly desirable. When attacking, players need to be constantly looking for open space.
17. The kick start is a forward kick. Place the receiving player close enough so he can get the ball before the opponent.
18. Place the ball on the line and have your body outside of the field to restart a play after the ball goes out of the boundaries.
19. The goalie must use his hands for a goal clearance.
20. The opponent player should allow 5 yards in a kick in play.
21. When the goalie throws the ball it must hit his own court or a second player before it hits the opposing court.
22. There are no shoulder charges, slides or even play the ball when you are down allowed in Futsal.

Futsal is the only version of Indoor Football endorsed by the Football Federation of Australia and by FIFA. It is safer than any other Indoor Football available today as there are no nets or barriers to injure ones self on and the rules are such that fair play and skill are emphasised whilst contact and possible injury are minimised. The game of Futsal is an entirely different game to its outdoor cousin. While there are many similarities there are also many differences making it impossible for outdoor players to play the indoor game at a competitive level without adapting to the Futsal rules. Futsal began in the 1930's in Uraguay and has been developing ever since. All Brazilian Football players begin their careers playing Futsal from the age of about 4 until they are around 15 when many make the transition to Outdoor Football. Many Football greats such as Ronaldo, Zico, Pele, Ronaldinho and the like credit their skills and techniques to Futsal.

Futsal is played on an indoor court similar to that of a Basketball or Netball court. 5 players from each team take the field at any one time (an active goal keeper and four field players). Futsal has boundry lines much the same as Outdoor Football does, this fact combined with the smaller playing field means that players are always under pressure of losing possesion to either opposing players or outlines. This makes Futsal extremely beneficial to Football players as they are always part of the action and must think quickly and develop high levels of technical skill to keep in the game. Futsal is fast, all players on the field are constantly part of the action. This makes Futsal a great way to enjoy sport and keep fit at the same time.

Futsal History

Brazilian or Uruguayan? It is with this question that you begin to explain the
birth of futsal, which appeared under the name of football lounge and in 1989,
when passed to the authority of Fifa, has earned the name of futsal. Some count
that the futsal appeared in the decade, 30 in ACM (Association of Christian Moços)
Montevideo, and that its creator would have been the teacher Juan Carlos Ceriani
Gravier, who died in 1996. Another says that the current method
ACM has appeared in the Sao Paulo, practiced by some young people in blocks of
basketball. What is clear is that futsal was regulated and began to be practiced
really in Brazil.

In Sao Paulo was the first body of the sport, which has news
until today, the League of Football Hall of the ACM, created by the Sao Paulo Habid
Maphuz in 1952. Two years after the first federation was founded this
Sports Worldwide, the Metropolitan Football Federation of Hall, currently
with the name of Federation of Football Hall of the State of Rio de Janeiro
(FFSRJ). Already the Uruguayan Federation only emerged in 1965.
The creation of rules and regulations is another proof that does reduce the
doubts about the nationality of the Brazilian futsal. The first book of
rules was launched in 1956 by Paulista Luiz Gonzaga de Oliveira Fernandes,
subsequently adopted by the entity that comandava in the world futsal
season, the Fifusa (Federation of International Football Hall), with some
changes.

But not only that the Sao Paulo contributed to the expansion and
development of Futsal. At the same time carried the young Cariocas
futsal court in the American Football Club.

Thus came the first rivalry in the Brazilian futsal: Sao Paulo x
Cariocas, which ultimately contribute positively to the development of
sport in the country. Then, the expansion of the sport has become inevitable
by courts of other Brazilian states and consequently
providing the emergence of other powers in Brazil, for example
the Rio Grande do Sul and Ceara - in which state is the headquarters of the Confederation
Brazilian Football Hall of (CBFS), which completes 20 years in 1999.

After this first phase of structuring, came to Fifusa that dominated the
futsal world until 1989, when the Fifa began to regulate
Futsal. Getting approved Tuesday a majority of its rules in the new
regulating the maximum authority of soccer, Brazil is disconnected from Fifusa
since 1989 and is affiliated to Fifa. The President of the Confederation of Brazilian
Football (CBF), Ricardo Teixeira, is the current Chairman of the Committee for Futsal
of Fifa, and yet another Brazilian in their establishment, the cearense Álvaro
Mello.

Thanks to the commitment of many Brazilians, among them the president of the CBFS,
Aécio of Borba Vasconcellos, is that futsal has spread not only throughout
the nation - all states have federations and promote championships annually
-- But also for the world.
